Au Chocolat @ MBS

So I had a lunch date with <3 at Au Chocolat @ MBS today.. Have been wanting to try their bistro since last year, but only had a huge white chocolate macaroon at their cafe once, finally gotten the chance to try it today..

And this is what I ordered! Earl grey tea ($10) and the famous rainbow cake slice ($12)! Well, i would say if you haven't ate this before, then at least order it once to try.. I don't know how the typical rainbow cakes taste like, it's my 1st with au chocolat, & i like the fluffy and light vanilla sponge texture, not "jelat" at all, and they used cream cheese instead of whipped cream or icing, so it wasn't too sweet, and the colors weren't too overly vibrant as well.

Garlic Prawn Pesto Pasta ($24), lé bf ordered this, and he likes it, they were generous with the juicy and crisp prawns that were relatively huge.. So for that price it was quite worth. Tasted awesome too, mix of chilli flakes and pesto sauce, he finished the whole plate..

Last but not least, the amazing truffle fries($15)! Seen lots of blogger and friends rave about the truffle fries here. Its superbly good as compared to the others i've tried at PARK, Stranger's Reunion, Jamie Oliver's, Anthesis Boulangerie. AC had way chunkier fries, I had one that was as long as a 15cm ruler(not exaggerating), and they were on average 1cm (+-) thick, crispy outside, fluffy inside, great match with the mayo, but would prefer tartar sauce, bbq sauce was kinda redundant for me.. Didn't finished this though, as the cake made me full, so i got the waitress to do a takeaway box for me..

Overall, lil pricey but still affordable and worth for the food portion and taste, 2 drinks, 1 cake, 1 side, 1 main, cost us $80.. I love the ambience! Definitely will come again! Its located at MBS level 1, at the far end above rasapura foodcourt, operates mon-sun 10am-11pm (6688 7227 for reservations)
Look at the choo-choo train hanging on the wall! Even kids love them!

Just an update as I went back the other day to try this, devil's chocolate cake! Awesomeness!
