Watami @ JCube

Hi guys! It has been a week since i last posted! So here's today's entry;

Had a date with lé bf at watami at level 1 of jcube, there is no reservation system here, but they have it at their star vista outlet. So the system here is pretty much like itacho sushi, at the main entrance there is a touch screen machine where you select the no. of pax dining in, then you get a queue number, though it was a friday night the crowd at jcube is usually quite mediocre, so i only waited 5 mins... I super love watami cause of their salads! And i have been bringing a number of my friend to try watami, partly also cause i had some promotional coupons. ;)

So here's our 1st dish, beef sukiyaki at $5 cause i had a discount coupon that jcube & imm co-launched in their food discount coupon magazine. It was worth every cent! Though the broth is really not for drinking, just to let the ingredients soak up the flavour so you can have some taste. But i super love the broth, so i always get a cup of hot water to dilute the salty sweet sukiyaki broth, just so i can drink it! I can add like 4 cups and it is still salty, but its the salty sweetness that makes me love this dish so much!

So with the sukiyaki, you can either get it with rice or noodles, there are a few selections, but the udon noodles we ordered, came with an egg, and cost us $4.30 extra. A little pricey just for plain udon and eggs, but you won't regret! The noodles were so chewy and had this bouncy texture when we cooked it in the sukiyaki broth.

So here's the 2nd dish, the signature watami half salad! They have two sizes, half and full, the usual price is about $7ish for half and $12ish for full. But i got the half salad at $2 cause of the coupon! ;) Major love with this dish, regardless of price. Since i 1st tried it, whenever i'm at watami, i sure will order.

Well, this 2 dishes were super worth as i had a coupon that gave me a combined price of $10 for both. The sashimi was so thick and smooth, you'll adore it! They didnt stinge with the portioning, and i counted 7 thick slices. Imagine one slice of watami being equivalent to 2-3 small slices you get at sushi express. The chicken wings were crispy, but they sliced one wing into 2 so it looks like there's alot, when it is actually just 4-5wings, but still worth at the discounted price i was paying for...

Last but not least, my $1 scoop of matcha ice cream, cant complain much since its my favourite flavor of ice cream plus its only $1. But of cause, paying $4+ for my tsujiri version is tons better than watami's, practically incomparable. :)

Hot tea is also served free and free-flow to all, kudos to that! :) In total, plus svc and gst charge, lé bf & i only spent $29.50 for this 5 dishes and a drink that he order. Cheap and awesome japanese food. Even without coupons, i will willingly pay full price cause of the value and portion of the food. Service staff are pretty pleasant here, i notice most customers here order the sukiyakis as they have 3 variants, chicken, beef, and korean army stew style...

That's all for now, will update soon!

Xoxo,
CheryL
