Maison Ikkoku @ Kandahar St

This weekend, i visited 2 cafés and maison ikkoku was my 1st stop.. It wasn't hard to locate, but it was a few streets away from haji lane, and under the hot sun it was so terribly unbearable.. Heng this café is air-conditioned.. Didn't make reservations as i didn't do my research on this café so i didn't know they take reservations..

The interiors featured wardrobes hanged on the ceilings with their doors removed, and most of them were used as tabletops for this café..

I reached the café at about 1+pm, and for peak hours in a 1 level café i was pretty lucky, they said waiting time was 0.5hour, but i reckoned i waited less than that.. The waiting area had a shelf where they were selling pretty cute glass cups that you could buy home for your coffee or tea(i liked the turquoise colored ones).. They gave us a cosy seat near the cashier..
FYI, if you are making reservations for 2, you prolly want to mention you want a bigger table kind of seat, i noticed a couple near us that made reservations, but gotten a table that was as small as 2 A4 paper pieced together

I suggested for lé bf to drink this, its like sparkly refreshing orange juice made in italy and it was only $3.50nett! (You guys can buy this at supermarkets too!)

Being the tea freak that i usually am, i will always order a cuppa hot tea to accompany my food or desserts, aids digestion too! Saw a flavour that I haven't tried before in any cafés so far, so i ordered Bancha Hojicha at $6 nett, pretty fragrant!

Look at how orgasmic the food is! And the piling huge portions! So worth it can!

Lé bf ordered the Rendang Blackstone at $20 nett, and its consists of egg benedicts on top of rendang beef shreds with 2 slice of fluffy toasted bread, and a side of salad as well as watermelon balls.. This was something different from your usual egg benedicts with a local twist to it.. Lé bf & i adored this dish, i rather rendang sauce than the usual hollandaise sauce which i don't really like...

And this is what I ordered, Break of Dawn at $22 nett.. Super huge portion! Scrambled eggs was mild in flavour, i had to go with the chilli sauce or the extra crispy fried bacon to balance the flavours.. Cause the bacon was super salty, though it was very crispy, and i didn't finished it... The bratwurst sausage was awesome, just that i thinked the chef fried too long? Cause the exterior was wrinkled, and the interior was dry, would definitely prefer the sausages that are boiled than lightly pan-fried to maintain its juicyness...

The cherry tomatos were grilled nicely, and were red and juicy! Not a fan of baguette, cause they are usually dry and hard, but i layed the scrambled eggs on top, so it kinda made up for it... Wedges tasted normal, those frozen and seasoned kind you get at the supermarts.. I liked the salad dressing that came with the salad, saw almond slices, don't know if its almond oil or vinaigrette? The baked dish in the middle was actually baked orange that had cinnamon, lemon juice and honey and it was an awesome appetizer cum dessert..

Would definitely come here again to try their other stuffs, like i said earlier, i didn't do my research on this café so i didn't know what they have and what's nice.. Apparently, they have rainbow cakes here too, but i didn't know, so i didn't ordered :(

Good place for brunch and chilling, one of the 17 cafés to go to at kampong glam area as mentioned by cafehopping.sg.. Though it was nett price, service was pretty good. I asked the cashier for hot water refill for my pot of tea, and he asked me to take a seat and he'll serve it to me.. Awesome food awesome portions.. They are located at:

20 Kandahar Street Singapore 198885
